ACCELERATES COGNITIVE ADAPTATION

The Feuerstein Method accelerates cognitive adaptation. Feuerstein clinicians train family members and a wide array of educational and clinical professionals to build structured interactions with the learner. In these interactions, the learner is mediated to think and communicate empathetically and logically, work with others, learn useful everyday routines, anticipate the results of his/her actions, and so much more.

THE THREE INTERCONNECTED SYSTEMS OF THE FEUERSTEIN METHOD

Feuerstein uses three proprietary interconnected systems. First, the Learning Propensity Assessment Device (LPAD) identifies the learning abilities and needs of an individual or a group of students. Second, a Feuerstein professional analyzes the

 assessment and designs an intervention program aimed at the enhancement of cognitive functioning. This is called Instrumental Enrichment (IE: IE basic and IE standard). The IE exercises are complemented by Shaping a Modifying Environment (SME), which supports further learning.  Research has shown that cognitive functioning can be significantly improved through systematic application of IE and SME.

SME: Shaping Modifying Environments

SME works to create an environment that encourages learning. Using SME, the home, classroom and workplace are all structured so as to accelerate cognitive adaptation. This includes structured interactions that require the learner to communicate and think empathetically and logically, and situations that require him/her to work with others, learn useful everyday routines, anticipate the results of certain actions and so much more.  Feuerstein professionals train family members, educational staff and clinicians how to build these pivotal interactions and create these critical contexts.
